Archive

The Archive holds completed and archived tasks. In GTD, you want your active lists to show only what's current. Done tasks clutter the view. Archive them instead of deleting—they stay searchable and restorable but no longer clutter your next actions or project views.

What goes in the archive?

  • Completed tasks – Tasks marked Done. Move to archive to clear the list.
  • Archived tasks – Tasks you manually archive (e.g. "won't do" but want to keep)
  • Archived projects – Entire projects with their tasks

Archiving a task

  1. Select the task.
  2. Use the context menu or action bar.
  3. Choose Archive (or Move to archive).

Or: Change status to Done, then archive from the task list or bulk actions.

Archiving a project

  1. Right-click the project in the sidebar.
  2. Choose Archive (or Move to archive).

All tasks in the project are archived with it.

Viewing the archive

  1. Open Archive from the icon bar (bottom section).
  2. Browse archived tasks and projects.
  3. Search and filter as needed.
  4. Restore by moving back to a project or unarchiving.

Restoring

  • Task: Select it, then use "Restore" or "Move to project" to bring it back.
  • Project: Restore the project from the archive; its tasks come back with it.

Archive vs delete

  • Archive: Keeps the task for history; removes it from active views. Use when you might need the record.
  • Delete: Moves to Trash; can be permanently removed later. Use when you're sure you don't need it.
