People

In GTD, Waiting For is one of the core lists. Tasks you've delegated or sent out for follow-up. You're blocked on someone else. The People view lets you see who you're waiting on—and chase them—so nothing falls through the cracks.

Why "waiting for" matters

Delegated tasks and follow-ups are easy to forget. "Did I chase Mike about the budget?" "When did I send that to Sarah?" Without a list, you either remember (stress) or forget (missed deadlines). The People view keeps it visible. You see tasks by person. You know who to follow up with.

Adding people

  1. Open People from the icon bar.
  2. Add a person via the sidebar or settings.
  3. Enter name and optionally email.

People can be colleagues, clients, family—anyone you delegate to or wait on.

Assigning tasks

  1. Select a task.
  2. In the properties panel, find Assignee.
  3. Choose a person.

Assigned tasks show in that person's list in the People view. Useful for delegation and handoffs.

Waiting for

When a task is blocked because you're waiting on someone:

  1. Select the task.
  2. Find Waiting for in the properties panel.
  3. Choose the person.

Use the Waiting For and Need to chase views to see these tasks. Chase them in your weekly review.

People view

The People view shows:

  • Tasks assigned to each person
  • Tasks you're waiting for from each person
  • Overdue or stuck items by person

Use it for delegation, follow-ups, and making sure nothing gets lost in the "waiting" pile.
