Milestones
Milestones are checkpoints within a project. In GTD's natural planning model, you define outcomes and key markers. Milestones give you those markers: "Design complete," "Launch," "Review with stakeholders." Each has a title, optional due date, and RAG status (red/amber/green) so you can see project health at a glance.
Creating milestones
- Select a project.
- Open the properties panel (right side).
- Find the Milestones section.
- Click "Add milestone".
- Enter a title and optionally a due date.
Milestone properties
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | The milestone name (e.g. "Design complete", "Launch"). |
| Due date | When the milestone is due. |
| RAG status | Red (at risk), Amber (attention needed), Green (on track). |
| Completed | Mark when the milestone is done. |
Linking tasks to milestones
- Select a task.
- In the properties panel, find Milestone.
- Choose a milestone from the project.
Tasks linked to a milestone appear in milestone-based views and help track progress toward that checkpoint.
Project health
The Project health dashboard shows:
- All milestones with RAG status
- Overdue milestones
- Slippage and risk
Use it during your weekly review to see which projects need attention.
